We allow ourselves to be mutated by intimate machines, abducted by audio ufos into the populations of our bloodstreams. Sound machines leave us stranded on our own skin. Hypersensual cyborgs experience themselves as a galaxy of audiotactile sensations. We are not censors but sensors, not aesthetes but kinaesthetes. We become sensationalists: the latest mutants, bred in lap loudspeakers.

Post-modern man is exposed to an unprecedented, aggressive acoustic environment. Digitally available music has become a decisive driving force to increasingly displace the surrounding world from our sonic consciousness. Media-distributed music is becoming shorter and shorter in its duration, the production attempts an approximation to the determining circumstances of utilisation: as a 15-second sample in the background of a TikTok post, the product has the best chance on the market! The discovery of sounds, the telling of sound stories recedes into the background when the reception of music is linked to visual stimuli as consumption or as background. Overstimulation prevents extended journeys into sound spaces. The vision of a calm sonic space has increasingly been replaced by a dazzling galaxy that perforates our senses with countless ear-piercing bells.

A Galaxy of audiotactile sensations will take a dialectical stance on the phenomenon of sensory overstimulation. With compositions and performances that draw the audience and musicians into the centre of a dazzling galaxy, hurl them close past the hot centre of gravity and then eject them into the dark expanses of intergalactic space. Does this journey ultimately not lead to the stars, but to ourselves?
